The racecar needs a new suspension (it has a death groan when you turn) and I am seriously thinking of embiggening the ride height of the car. The car is lowered about 1 or 1 and a half inches, and honestly it has the stiffest ride of any car....in the world. I have suffered through every pothole, bump, and expansion joint for the last 93,000 kms. (That would be about 57800 Murica's). I've nearly caught air on roads at reasonable speeds because of how hard it rides (although that hasn't happened in a while now). I've had people hit the roof in the back of the car because there is literally no absorption.

It may not be jalop, but I am sick of busting my ass over every single line painted on the road. I think I am going back to OEM suspension. Discuss your opinions on this below. I will miss the look, but I won't miss the constant bumps.

I don't know why, because I have made other pretty long treks in it before (once drove it to New Brunswick 1100 kms in one day) but this trek I was just like "this car does not have to be like this"...maybe I am turning into a softie. How soon till I get an auto? OH NOOOOOOO

My .02 cents, don't get shitty, aggressive springs/shocks and you'll be fine. I want to lower my stock E90 BMW and I've found a suspension set up that'll lower my car mildly, improve handling, AND ride better than my stock non sport suspension.

Look into Eibach Pro kit springs with Koni shocks. You'll love it for a daily driver and it'll lower around an inch all around.

*shudders*

Only if it's electric. And you have another car.

Those are my restrictions I've set on myself, anyway.

That would be sweet. I love the lowered look, but the suspension the previous owner put on, man alive...

You know, the other problem with most lowered cars is that, unless its an SUV, your bumpers might do less good than it usually would with most cars in the event of a fender-bender. Dropping the ride height means the bumper bar drops too.

You can still be low with a decent ride, the Jetta is lowered 1.5", thanks to a spacer in between the shock and the rest of the strut, it still feels buttery smooth, at least compared to the BMW.

Going more towards stock ride height is probably the easiest solution, and the way forward, however there are still many configurations you can still do.

Don't worry I totally get where you're coming from. I live outside of DC and the oem runflats on my bmw SUCK. I'm only on 16's too! I rode in a friend who has the same car on non runflat tires on forged 19's with eibach sportlines (even more aggressive, 2 inch drop up front, about 1.6 inch drop rear. Nice raked look). He paired it with I believe Koni yellows which are perfectly matched and even sold in kits together. The ride was quieter, smoother, and the handling was great. You did feel the bumps, but the car responded much faster and made them much less pronounced.

It was a factory option, and was installed as part of the "Sport Edition" of the car, It's just a sleeve that goes in the shock, and I was told it lowers the vehicle somehow.

It's got to be a senator. One of them has probably stolen your ride comfort to sell to their gangster friends to cover wrongly billed expenses. An by gangster I mean Los Conservatos Proggresivos. Check Sussex Dr. I bet Harps has it stashed in the garage under Mike Duffy. Or Jim Flaherty's corpse.

I am an upholder of a philosophy of life - your daily has to be usable, because it is a daily. There is no such thing as a race car and a daily all in one - only a huge compromise in both applications. Of course that's just me, but you too need not be a slave to appearances.

I put the springs of the diesel version on mine that make it higher than stock and now I can drive wherever I want. I ain't going back and I'm proud, god dammit!

Near Iwo Jima right? That's a great place to stay, good proximity to about everything.

Glad you enjoyed Old Town Alexandria, and the Lady friend probably enjoyed the shopping :P

Yeah man. Your guys subway is awesome. So easy to use, and it comes so often. We don't have a subway, but if we did, I want those paper fare card things. They are perfect.

Peugeot 306. The diesel engines are a good 50% heavier so the springs are 'sportier' if you put them on a car with an Alu engine.
